Monte Albán

The most important archeological site of Oaxaca built by “The people from the clouds” the zapotec people in the year of 800 B.C

San Martín Tilcajete

The most famous handicraft of Oaxaca is made here, “Los Alebrijes” The original Alebrijes are from Mexico city, but in Oaxaca they took the original idea to another level Carving and painting the animals with zapotec designs. Visiting a workshop in this town is magical and mysterious, you can even know what your spiritual animal is. These colorful and crazy creatures are definitely something you can not miss.

Ancestral Mezcal Distillery

We will visit a very small town with a unique Mezcal. In this town people still work with the ancestral process using Clay pots providing to the Mezcal a unique flavor. The prodution here is in small batches but they work with different types of wild born agaves. Not a comercial Mezcal but very authentic.

Santo Tomas Jalietza

The traditions of weaving around Oaxaca started here. In this community we can visit the handicraft market where you can see local ladies working with the back strap loom, manufacturing purses, shoulder bags, table runners, tablecloths, belts, straps and bracelets.
